FP LOG is not the only conference and exhibition exclusively dedicated to the forest products logistics industry.But it distinguishes itself by paying special attention to raw materials like wood pellets and wood chips for bio-fuels.

INTRODUCTION

With issues as climate change and the ensuing cry for sustainable development
high on the international environmental agenda, the Forest Products industry
faces some serious challenges. Pressure on fibre sources results in a lot of key
players looking for other means to reduce costs. And so the pressure cascades
down to the transport and logistics industry, an industry seen by many as the
obvious solution to maintain or increase margins.

As one of the industries particularly scrutinized by environmentalists the Forest Products industry is also forced to look at the entire supply chain through green binoculars. This affects resources and production systems obviously, but transport
and logistical companies as an integral part of the supply chain too will consequently be asked to adapt accordingly.

Lastly - on the demand side - a geographical shift in consumer markets from
classic European and Northern American economies to Asian and Southeast
Asian economies will force both producers and transportation/logistical service
providers to adapt accordingly.

These challenges for both industries, and how to meet them in close cooperation
with each other, are the topics of the FP LOG conference and exhibition.
The two day event will provide a forum for members of both industries to discuss
openly what lies ahead, and to learn from experts in the field so as to be well prepared
to configure new strategies. Networking opportunities are provided to
